The Evolution of Brunch Beverages

Brunch at Prime, here at YOUR Sky Meadow—the perfect fusion of breakfast and lunch, and the ideal excuse to sip a cocktail before noon without judgment. The history of brunch beverages is a fun mix of cultural influences, creative twists, and a whole lot of flavors.

Let’s start with the Mimosa, the OG brunch cocktail. Born in the 1920s at the Hôtel Ritz Paris, this bubbly blend of champagne and orange juice quickly became a brunch favorite. Its fizzy charm was all about adding a little sparkle to a lazy morning. Not far behind was the Bloody Mary, which also started in 1920s Paris but found its true home in the U.S. This spicy tomato juice-based drink, often loaded with garnishes, earned a reputation as the ultimate hangover cure and became a brunch essential.

As brunch became more of a “thing”, so did the variety of drinks. Enter the Bellini—a close cousin to the Mimosa, but with a twist of Italian flair. Made with Prosecco and peach purée, the Bellini brought a sweet, refreshing taste of Venice to brunch tables around the world. Meanwhile, the Sloe Gin Fizz, a hit in the 1950s, was reinvented by our Bartenders at Prime with fresh, exciting ingredients, making it a go-to choice for those looking to mix up their brunch routine.

Fast forward to today, and the brunch beverage menu is like a Par 5 for your taste buds. Whether you’re sipping on the refreshing Hugo, with its mix of sparkling wine, St. Germaine, and mint, or starting your day with a rich Espresso Martini, there’s a brunch cocktail out there to match any mood. Our Brunch drinks, especially here at Prime, have become as diverse and interesting as the people who enjoy them, offering a little something for everyone to raise a glass to.

Pairing Prime Brunch Beverages with Food

Now that you’ve got your drink in hand, it’s time to talk food pairings. After all, what’s brunch without the perfect bite to go with your cocktail?

  • The Hugo is a refreshing choice that pairs wonderfully with the Lobster Benedict. The light, herbal notes from the mint and elderflower in the Hugo complement the rich, buttery lobster and creamy hollandaise sauce, making each bite feel even more luxurious.
  • Sky Bloody Meadow (our take on the Bloody Mary) is your best friend when you’re digging into the Prime Burger. The bold, savory flavors of the burger pair perfectly with the spicy, tangy notes of the Bloody Mary, cutting through the richness and adding a kick to your meal.
  • PRIME’s Sloe Gin Fizz is a fun match with the Grilled Cheese BLT. The fizz’s citrusy and slightly sweet profile balances out the richness of the bacon and cheese, while the fizz brings a light, uplifting contrast.
  • PRIME “Bellini” is a classic pairing with Classic French Toast. The sweet peach purée in the Bellini highlights the buttery, cinnamon-dusted goodness of the French toast, making it a pairing that feels like a warm hug on a Sunday morning.
  • Espresso Martini is the perfect pick-me-up alongside Chicken & Waffles. The rich, bold flavors of espresso complement the sweet waffles and savory, crispy chicken, creating a delicious balance of flavors that will keep you energized for the rest of the day.
  • Brunch Punch pairs beautifully with the Scramble Bowl. The punch’s mix of Aperol, rum, and citrus plays off the bright flavors of avocado, feta, and chorizo, making each bite burst with fresh, zesty goodness.
  • Spring 75 is an invigorating choice to enjoy with the Steak Benedict. The gin and sparkling wine in the Spring 75 offer a crisp, refreshing counterpoint to the tender steak and rich hollandaise, making each bite feel balanced and satisfying.
  • Aperol Sunrise pairs perfectly with the Sea Bass Tacos. The cocktail’s bright citrus and tequila notes mirror the fresh, zesty flavors in the tacos, creating a light and lively pairing that’s perfect for a sunny brunch.
  • Chandon Garden Spritz is a fresh, citrusy companion to the Prime Fiery Omelet. The spritz’s blend of oranges and bitters balances the omelet’s spicy, savory profile, creating a well-rounded flavor experience that keeps you coming back for more.

With these pairings, your brunch experience is set to be a flavorful journey that’s as satisfying as it is fun. Whether you’re a brunch traditionalist or someone who loves to explore new flavors, there’s a perfect drink and dish combination just waiting to be discovered. Enjoy!

Cheers,
